The excavator EKG-12,5 (EKG-6,3U) is a powerful electric all-wheel drive mining shovel. It is crawler-mounted with large rollers. It is designed for open-pit mining of mineral deposits or overburden rocks and their loading in transport facilities or dumping. The excavator consists of working equipment, revolving frame and lower frame with undercarriages. The working equipment consists of the dipper, handle, boom, the mechanisms of dipper door trip and braking. Revolving frame is the base for the excavator mechanisms (hoist winch, swinging mechanism, crowd winch, compressor, electromechanic grease pump, electrical equipment) and working equipment set on it. Combined with them it forms the shovel revolving structure. The revolving structure through a ring rail bases on roller circle, lying on the ring rail of the base frame. The revolving frame is connected to the base frame with a king pin. The base frame is supported by two double-crawler undercarriages with individual drive for each crawler. Each undercarriage has two crawler belts. The base frame is fitted with electrically operated cable reel for trailing cable reeling and unreeling during shovel travel.
